15/55 ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMUNICATIONS

The Chair announced that a response to Urgent Motion No. 114 in relation to SSI had been received from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.  A copy of the letter from The Rt Hon Soubry MP, Minister of State for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise had been circulated with the Summons.

15/56 APPROVAL OF THE STATEMENT OF LICENSING ACT POLICY 2016-2021 - REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITIES



A report of the Executive Director, Economic Development and Communities was presented to seek Council approval for the Statement of Licensing Act Policy 2016-2021 and for the policy statement to be reviewed by June 2017 to align with related Council and multi-agency strategies and policies currently being developed.

 

Licensing Authorities were required to review their Licensing Policy Statement every five years.  Middlesbrough's Licensing Policy 2016-2021 had to be in place by 7 January 2016 to ensure legal compliance and to allow for the Council to assess applications and other processes under the Licensing Act 2003. 

 

The Executive Member for Adult Health and Social Care informed Council that Middlesbrough had been chosen as a pilot for the Local Alcohol Action Area initiative and several other Local Authorities had used Middlesbrough’s Licensing Policy has a template for their own policy.
 

ORDERED as follows that:

 

1.    the Licensing Policy Statement 2016-2021 was approved by Council.

2.    the policy statement would be reviewed by June 2017 to align with developments in the related Council and multi-agency strategies and policies.

15/57 REVIEW OF POLICY UNDER THE GAMBLING ACT 2005 - REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITIES

A report of the Executive Director, Economic Development and Communities was presented to seek Council approval for the Gambling Act 2005: Licensing Policy Statement.

 

Middlesbrough's Gambling Act 2005: Licensing Policy Statement had to be adopted by 31 January 2016 to ensure legal compliance.

 

ORDERED as follows that:

 

1.   the responses to the consultation on the contents of the draft Licensing Policy were noted.

2.   the Gambling Act 2005: Licensing Policy Statement was approved by Council.
