The Executive Director for Wellbeing, Care and Learning submitted a report to consider and approve school admission arrangements for the intake in September 2017.

The report outlined that the latest School Admissions Code (the Code) came into force in December 2014,
and applied to admissions to all maintained schools and academies. Admission authorities must ensure that their determined admission arrangements for 2017/18 comply with the mandatory provision of the Code.

Each year the LA determines the authority’s admission arrangements which are then formally consulted on with schools, parents and other LA's for a minimum of 6 weeks. The public consultation took place in December 2015 to January 2016.

The Admissions Scheme applies to all schools within Middlesbrough and gives details of the admissions procedures and timetables. There were no changes to the scheme from previous years with the exception of date changes.

The report provided further background, details of which were outlined in the report.

That the attached school admission arrangements for the intake in September 2017 be approved.

The decision was approved for the following reason:

The arrangements have been consulted on and reflect the current capacity available in Middlesbrough schools.

The decision will come into force after five working days following the day the decision was published unless the decision becomes subject to the call in procedures.
