That the minutes of the Executive Sub Committee for Property held on the 28 January 2013 were taken as read and signed by the Chair as a true record.

13/49 TO CONSIDER PASSING A RESOLUTION EXCLUDING THE PRESS AND PUBLIC FROM THE MEETING DURING CONSIDERATION OF ITEM 5 OF BUSINESS ON THE GROUNDS THAT, IF PRESENT, THERE WOULD BE A DISCLOSURE OF EXEMPT INFORMATION FALLING WITHIN PARAGRAPH 3 OF SCHEDULE 12A OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972.

13/50 GRESHAM REDEVELOPMENT

The Executive Director of Neighbourhoods and Communities submitted a report that provided an update on the progress to date in Gresham.

 

On the 2nd September 2011, the Mayor considered a report entitled "Housing Market Renewal - The Way Forward. The report gave an overview of the issues, which had impacted on the progress of the Council’s HMR projects, and presented proposals for the progression of each project.

 

The Mayor had also delegated authority to the Executive Director of Neighbourhoods and Communities, following consultation with the Executive Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, to progress Gresham in accordance with the proposals presented within the report.

 

The report had stated that the Council’s aspirations were to deliver a mixed-use development to stimulate private sector led economic growth in the town centre area.


Various options were outlined within the report.
 

The Council remained committed to the assembly and redevelopment of the Phase 2b area. The start of acquisitions in Phase 2b were, however, dependent upon further approval from the Council.

The recommendations were made to progress the regeneration of Gresham.
