14/5 MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 19 MAY 2014.

That the minutes of the Executive Sub Committee for Property held on the 19 May 2014 were taken as read and signed by the Chair as a true record.

 

Under matters arising, the Chair referred to the outcome from the Overview and Scrutiny Board call in - The future of Netherfields Community Centre held on 9 June 2014.

 

The call in was instigated following decisions of the Executive Sub Committee for Property in respect of the decision made. The Overview and Scruriny Board agreed that the decisions of the Executive Sub Committee for Property should be referred back to the decision maker for the following reason:

 

The proposed use of the building raises concerns regarding a future lack of provision of community facilities in Netherfields.

 

During the meeting reference was made to the report and an update there on. Members of the Executive Sub Committee and Councillors present also made comment on the report and decision.

 

Following discussions, it was agreed that recommendation 1 of the original report should stand, however recommendation 2 be amended slightly to encourage and strengthen community ties.

 

The recommendations were therefore agreed as follows:

  1. That the use of Netherfields Community Centre to facilitate an extension to Priory Woods School be approved, and
  2. As a condition of the use of Netherfields Community Centre, the Council take any and all steps available to ensure there be a continuing community use agreement

 

14/6 TO CONSIDER PASSING THE RESOLUTION EXCLUDING THE PRESS AND PUBLIC FROM THE MEETING DURING CONSIDERATION OF THE FOLLOWING ITEM OF BUSINESS ON THE GROUNDS THAT, IF PRESENT, THERE WOULD BE A DISCLOSURE OF EXEMPT INFORMATION FALLING WITHIN PARAGRAPH 3 OF SCHEDULE 12A OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972.

That the decision to exclude all members of the press and public was agreed.

14/7 DISPOSAL OF TAD CENTRE / MTLC

The Executive Director, Economic Development and Communities submitted a report that outlined the Council’s approach to the disposal of the TAD Centre and MTLC.

 

The report gave details of to the background and outlined in detail the potential issues for both the TAD Centre and MTLC.

  1. That the recommendations of the report be approved.
