13/9 MINUTES - STAFF APPEALS COMMITTEE 22 OCTOBER 2013

The minutes of the meeting of the Staff Appeals Committee held on 22 October 2013 were submitted and approved as a correct record.

13/10 PROCEDURE NOTES FOR APPEAL HEARING AG/01/14

Following introductions the Chair reaffirmed the procedure to be followed at the meeting a copy of which had previously been circulated to all representatives.

 

With the agreement of all concerned a witness called by the Service Area representative remained in attendance throughout the meeting in so far as the Service Area representative, Appellant and Appellant's Trade Union representative were present.

 

NOTED

13/11 EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC.

ORDERED that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the whole of the business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12a of the Local Government Act 1972 and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information.

13/12 APPEAL - CASE REFERENCE AG/01/14

The Committee met to consider an appeal, Case Reference AG/01/14 in respect of a grievance which had been submitted which centred on issues that the Appellant had been unfavourably discriminated against in the circumstances outlined in the information previously circulated by the Appellant and in the presentation of his case.

 

The Appellant together with his Trade Union representative presented his case and responded to questions posed by the Service Area representative, Members of the Committee and Legal Services representative. 

 

The Service Area representative together with a witness presented the Council's case and responded to questions posed by the Appellant, Appellant's Trade Union representative and Members of the Committee.

 

Following the summing up of the cases the Appellant, Appellant's Trade Union representative, Service Area representative and witness withdrew from the meeting whilst the Committee determined the appeal.

 

The Appellant, Appellant's Trade Union representative, Service Area representative and witness returned to the meeting room for the announcement of the Committee's decision, details of which would be confirmed in writing to the Appellant by the Legal Services representative.

 

ORDERED that having given full consideration to all of the evidence presented the appeal be not upheld.
